In its raw state cherry is an attractive wood with a fine grain and a beautiful reddish tinge. When the wood has been treated with a clear stain, the redness in the wood is accentuated to become a rich deep shade that looks just wonderful. A cherry wardrobe looks expensive even if it isn’t such is the effect of the grain and shine that emanates from the surface.
A cherry wood wardrobe doesn’t quite get the accolades nor does it command the same demand as wardrobes made from oak or pine. This is a bit of a shame because it really does make a striking wardrobe, not to mention the other furniture pieces that you can get to match.
And this is probably one of the points to make about putting a cherry wardrobe into the bedroom. If you do so you would be well advised to go ahead and decorate the rest of the room with cherry furniture too. Choosing to use other type of wood would just look out of place.
So when looking for a more decorative wardrobe you are most likely going to find it made of cherry. When a varnish or wax is applied to the wood it is possible to polish it to a high gloss. In a lot of cases you might find a wardrobe made from another type of wood such as oak but with the wardrobe doors made from highly polished cherry. After all, it’s the doors that are going to be the most prominent feature so it stands to reason that they should be the stand out features.
